What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a site. They are often used to keep the site working, remember settings, or support analytics or marketing. This document lists what applies on this site, based on how it is built and what we are rolling out.
1. Strictly necessary
These are required for basic operation and security. The site's cookie consent tool treats a Necessary category as always on; you cannot turn it off without breaking core functionality.
In practice this includes framework and hosting: our pages are served with standard web technologies; your browser may store typical session-related data as part of loading and using the site. We do not use a separate shopping-cart cookie for checkout on this site because purchases are not completed inside this app (plan links either go to contact or to an external URL we configure).
2. Consent and preferences (first-party)
When you respond to the cookie banner or open Cookie settings in the footer, we save your choices in a first-party cookie named:
- bh_consent (name may be shown from server configuration)
That cookie is signed on the server, holds your selected categories and a stable random identifier used only for consent continuity, and is not used to track you across other companies' websites.
If our cookie policy version changes, you may see a prompt to confirm your choices again.
Optional audit log: If consent audit logging is enabled in configuration, the server may record consent events in our database with hashed IP and browser-type information for compliance troubleshooting — not for advertising.
3. Functional, Analytics, and Marketing
The preference dialog offers Functional, Analytics, and Marketing toggles (see category list below).
Analytics and marketing (rolling out): Third-party analytics and/or marketing scripts are intended to be connected soon and loaded only when the corresponding category is allowed — the site already has a consent gate for those scripts. Until each tag is deployed and verified, selecting Analytics or Marketing may not yet activate a specific vendor; we will update this page with vendor names and cookie names when each integration goes live.
Functional: When enabled, this includes optional third-party live chat (scripts and cookies depend on the provider). It also covers other non-essential preferences we may add over time; we will name them here as they ship.
Categories in the preference UI
- Necessary(always on)
Required for the site to work (for example security and load balancing). Always on.
- Functional
Optional features such as live chat (when enabled) and preference choices; third-party scripts may apply depending on what we turn on.
- Analytics
Helps us understand how the site is used so we can improve it.
- Marketing
Used to measure campaigns and, when applicable, deliver more relevant messages.
4. Live chat (third-party, when enabled)
If live chat is turned on in site settings, the browser may load scripts and cookies from a third-party chat provider. The exact provider and cookie names depend on the script stored in settings — they are not fixed in code.
Consent: When chat is enabled in settings, we load it only if you allow the Functional category in the cookie banner. If you turn Functional off or have not yet accepted cookies, the chat script does not load on public pages.
How to manage cookies
- Use Cookie settings in the site footer (when available) or the cookie banner to reject non-essential categories, accept all categories shown, or customize individual categories.
- You can also use your browser settings to block or delete cookies. Blocking all cookies may break parts of the site (including saving consent).
Changes
We may update this policy when we change how cookies or similar technologies are used. The policy version and effective date used by the consent system come from server configuration (COOKIE_POLICY_VERSION and related settings).
